Xansa's finance and accounting centre in Chennai has been named Offshoring Operation of the Year at the National Outsourcing Association (NOA) awards.
A combination of its innovative procedures along with its quality of management and workforce skills impressed the judges. The centre was also recognised for its ability to improve processes to reduce costs for its clients as well as deliver on promises of risk-free and added value services.
Established in 2004 with around 50 employees, Xansa's Chennai operation has now grown to over 450 people, serving major clients including BT, MyTravel, O2 and Lloyds TSB. The dedicated centre, which delivers over 90 per cent of its clients' finance and accounting services, is now an integral part of Xansa's overall offering as the world's second biggest F&A provider. 99 per cent of employees at the centre are accounting graduates and 22 per cent are either chartered accountants or possess an MBA.
"Chennai is one of the jewels in our crown," said Alan Oliver, Xansa's F&A sector director. "This award vindicates our strategy of creating a dedicated F&A operation in India staffed by personnel with specialist knowledge - a move that resulted in several major contracts wins since its inception."
"The offshoring phenomenon has exploded in recent years," said David Leigh, Xansa's Commercial & Strategy Director.
Being acknowledged by the body that sets the benchmark for best practice in this sector is a fantastic achievement, and a testament to our offshoring expertise. It is great that the hard work and commitment of our Chennai team has been recognised in this way.
"At the NOA, we strive to raise awareness of best practice in the outsourcing industry - the awards are core to this strategy. All winners have ably demonstrated excellence in outsourcing and have highlighted the importance of best practice standards being met in the industry," said Martyn Hart, chairman of the NOA.
