DWP website takes top honours

22 January 2007

The Government's jobs and skills website - developed and run by Xansa - has been declared the best performing Government site for January.

With a score of 9.41 out of 10, the jobs and skills website, which is developed and run by Xansa for the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP), tops the list of UK Central government websites in the latest survey conducted by SiteMorse, an independent website monitoring and testing company. The criteria for choosing the best performing website included assessment of function, performance, accessibility and code quality. The jobs and skills website pipped the Health and Safety Executive website into second place, with the Pension Service website coming in third, some way behind.

The jobs and skills website, formerly Worktrain, provides the national job search facility for the Directgov portal, the one-stop advice and information point for UK citizens. Accessible at http://jobseekers.direct.gov.uk, it provides joined-up, multi-channel access to information about Jobs, Training, Childcare, Careers and Voluntary opportunities.

CK Singla, Chief Operating Officer, Web Services, Xansa, commented:

"We are extremely pleased to see our work be recognized as the top perfomer among government websites. We will continue to build on our thought leadership in web services to promote superior government-citizen interactions at the least cost to the tax payer."
